Washington Mind is a membership organisation and by becoming a member you will be a Friend of Washington Mind. We are always looking for new people to join us and help us to shape our organisation.

By becoming a Friend of Washington Mind you will:

  • Support our work and help to shape the future direction of the organisation
  • Receive regular information about organisational events and updates
  • Subscribe to our newsletter
  • Be able to vote at our Annual General Meetings
  • Attend bi-monthly Friends of Washington Mind Meetings

We welcome memberships from:

  • Friends and family members of our service users
  • Professionals
  • Volunteers
  • Individuals from the community

Anyone can become a Friend of Washington Mind!

Our Friends of Washington Mind regularly help us to develop our services by providing us with feedback and suggestions. Here are a few of the suggestions our Friends of Washington Mind have recently said and the changes we have made:

Schools didn’t understand grief We updated our Grief Training for professionals working with young people and started to deliver this to schools.
You wanted to get involved in a market for young people’s small businesses We began working with Sunderland Teenage Market to provide a platform for young entrepreneurs.
You wanted more trips to be available We started running trips to places you wanted to visit; Tyneside Cinema, South Shields Market, Ikea and the Beach
You wanted to access therapeutic groups We began delivering a number of therapeutic groups including; Mum’s Matter, Steps to Recovery, Managing Anxiety, Improving Self-Esteem and Managing Depression and Low Mood.

What are Friends of Washington Mind meetings?

Our Friends of Washington Mind meetings give you an opportunity to find out what Washington Mind have going on at the minute and what we have coming up in the future. We also invite other local professionals to join us to discuss what they have on offer. The meetings provide a space where we can find out what you want to see from our services and listen to your questions.

The meetings take place at: The Life House, Grasmere Terrace, Columbia, Washington, NE38 7LP.

Booking and Cancellation Policy

Whilst there is no payment taken at the time of booking your fully funded space via our online booking system Washington Mind reserves the right to charge a £50.00 fee as agreed with funders for the following:

  • Cancellation of attendance within 0 - 7 days before the training session
  • None attendance on the day of the training session ( DNA)
  • None completion of all sessions that apply to delivery of the course in full.
  • An alternative delegate may be substituted by an organisation without charge for the whole course. Delegates can NOT be substituted partway through the training course.
  • The delegate is aware that Washington Mind’s mental health training programme covers emotive subjects such as suicide, self-harm, death and dying.
  • By submitting the booking form, the delegate agrees to the dates, times and the subsequent charge referenced
  • The delegate must be able to attend the training session in FULL
  • Washington Mind reserve the right to cancel a training session for operational reasons at any time
  • Please contact Washington Mind if you wish to discuss or clarify anything further before making a booking

Data is stored on our secured servers; these systems are only accessible to Washington Mind and authorised third party support personnel. If we retain a hardcopy of your information, it will be kept in a secure place

By opting in to be contacted by email and telephone, you are consenting to Washington Mind contacting you in regards to cancellation of training, feedback on our training or to let you know about any other training opportunities that you may be interested in.
