Did you know 22nd April 2024 is Earth Day?
Here at Washington Mind we are passionate about looking after our planet because we know how much out planet looks after us! Spending time in natural spaces can help to improve mental health so we want to protect these spaces as much as we can, this includes:
- Hosting a community garden which produces food for our Café Life
- Using our composting bins for compostable waste to feed back into our community garden
- Offering vegan special in Café Life when possible
- Offering reusable hot drinks mugs in Café Life which when purchased for £2.50 can get you 20p of hot drink purchases
- Working with our Gardening Group to set up a bug hotel to increase pollinator biodiversity and populations which can support our community garden as well as the local community
- We often accept craft donations from members of the community who no longer need the materials – preventing waste!
- We sometimes host pre-loved clothing events, including this coming Saturday (27th April from 1pm-3pm) where members of the community can come and sell the items they no longer need but are still in good condition and you can come along and grab yourself a top quality pre-loved bargain!
- We have a bike rack on site at The Life House for those looking to cycle to our building
